Dual Docking Station for Cava Bottling Line

Project Description
Comprehensive design of a dual station within a cava bottling line that automatically performs the stacking, palletizing, strapping, and flipping phases. The system connects to the existing filling stage, optimizing flow for agile process continuity.
Industrial Sector
Food and Beverage (Wine Sector / Cava Production).
Technological Challenge

The main challenge consisted of mechanical synchronization and the design of a precise coupling with pre-existing machinery without altering the operational layout. It was essential to guarantee the structural stability of the flipping station, which is subjected to considerable dynamic forces during the handling of the finished product, as well as the integration of real-time control systems.

Development

Using SolidWorks 3D, complete parametric modeling of the station was performed, allowing for interference simulation and millimeter-accurate adjustment of moving parts. Specific mechanisms were developed for the delicate handling of glass and a data extraction system for monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The design addressed both ergonomics and the ease of preventive maintenance for the strapping station.

Result

A 60% reduction in total end-of-line process time was achieved, transforming a manually intensive operation into a highly automated process. This optimization has allowed for the strategic reassignment of human resources to higher value-added tasks and provided the client with total control over traceability and productivity through the new digital measurement system.
